The Japanese Wagyu category A5 means the best of the best.
To achieve the category A5, the marbling level must be excellent (BMS between 8 and 12), Quality of use: Excellent, Color and Brightness: Excellent, Firmness and Texture: Excellent, Fat Quality: Excellent. If on any of these criteria the level is not excellent, the piece does not earn the "A5" stamp.
